Game Overview
You run a bakery by day and an illegal underground mech arena by night — baking living bread machines that fight to promote your brand. Balance hands-on first-person mech combat with tactile, recipe-driven baking and business management.
The Task At Hand
For "Dough or Die", I was tasked with creating 2D drawings of existing 3D models for the player inventory system. Each bread, dough, and ingredient icon is based on their in-game 3D model.
Every icon starts with sketched outline in Procreate, usually taken from reference images of the models.
Then, I use the textures on the models for references on the shading.
The only brush I use while shading in Procreate is the texturing brush, Hertz. I create my own shadows based on an implied light source and I use multiple blending layers until the icon looks how I want it to. I clean up the edges, add a slight drop shadow, and import the PNGs into Unreal Engine for our tech team to implement.

The Next Beast
For the next icons, I had more freedom. Our game has "Perk Cards", potential perks players get to choose to upgrade their playing build. These perk cards needed art to better get the point across to players, so I was tasked with making this art based on the card descriptions.
